Behold The Mage

One mage. An endless horde. A spellbook you write yourself.

Behold The Mage is a horde-survival roguelite where every level-up hands you a rune. Build your spells piece by piece:

• FORM — projectile, beam, orbit, explosion, rain, familiar or shield
• ELEMENT — fire, ice, lightning, earth, spirit, water, nature
• MODIFIER — splits, pierces, homes in, bounces, grows, returns, twin, giant and more

Fuse two spells and their elements combine: fire + lightning = plasma, water + nature = swamp, fire + ice = steam. Find the right recipes and unlock 8 legendary spells, like Meteor Shower, Black Hole and Phoenix.

And when the horde is too much, shout BEHOLD! — for 40 seconds every spell cycles through every element at once.

• 8 stages + an endless portal, each with its own bosses, hazards and music
• 29 elements, 7 forms, 10 modifiers — hundreds of spell combinations
• Familiars that summon black cats, ravens, owls and toads
• Equipment you can fuse, a skill tree and a bestiary
• Leave anytime: your battle is saved and you continue right where you stopped
• A mage with dry humor who is very sure of himself

Controls

• WASD / arrows — move
• Space — BEHOLD!
• E — backpack
• Esc — pause

Gamepad supported. Spells cast automatically: you choose the runes and where to stand.

Install

Windows: extract the zip and run BeholdTheMage.exe. The game is not code-signed, so Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” — click More info → Run anyway.
Linux: extract the zip and run BeholdTheMage.x86_64 (if needed: chmod +x BeholdTheMage.x86_64).
Updating? Just replace the folder — your progress is saved outside it.
